AT SULA’S FEET

As a little child, I crawled under my grandmother’s iron bed and retrieved old photos, letters, lots of her sister’s hair, and old stamps.

As a college sophomore I sat at my grandmother’s feet with a tape recorder and said, “Grandma, tell me the stories you used to tell and she did.” Years later, these recorded stories would become the focal point of my life’s mission.

At a college reunion, I realized I had been keeping scrapbooks and journals since high school. Reviewing these journals and scrapbooks revealed how much is forgotten and lost. I sat down to write about them.

What the pen decided to do, was revive Grandmother’s wit and wisdom. That is what “At Sula’s Feet” is. One page little vignettes that will take you back to my and your childhood memories. I say “your” memories because this is what my readers tell me from the moment they read the table of contents. At Sula’s Feet will make you cry, laugh out loud and recall many heart felt moments.

Grandmother was my inspiration to tell her stories. “At Sula’s Feet” has been the inspiration for countless people to tell their family stories.
